The big news for me is cross platform. We'll need some more details about how ASP.NET will run on Linux and how ISP's and providers like godaddy, etc, will respond, but it can't be anything but good news.

What "Free" means remains to be seen. The CLR is open source, but they don't mention the IDE. The CLR (the .NET framework) is free now.

There seems to be quite a bit of support for WPF.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
