At Bata/Bolivia, I had lots of forms with the same name as the underlying table, and never had any problems. I don't think there is any room for ambiguity: If you say "USE MATERIAL", that refers to "material.dbf", not to "material.scx". If you want to "hack" the form, you must explicitly include the extension.
