>We're thinking of making our next application usable on the web. We been hearing that VB is the best tool for the client interface via HTML but I still want to use the VFP database for the back. After hearing some discussion about the pros and cons of using ADOs with VFP we're not sure what to do. I don't want to invest time training someone in VB only to find there was no real advantage. We would like the flexibility to use the app only across the LAN as well. The functioality is not too complex for our needs but I want the widest range of tools possible. We need to be able to have the same access to data and services from multiple places via ISP connections. Probably on rented server space so miantenence is also key.

I want to back up Bob's reply. I have talked with people who have done web development with VB and VFP/WWWC, and favor has fallen strongly in VFP's court. West Wind Web Connection is a very powerful tool that allows direct access to VFP data using VFP code. It offers many ways to tackle the job, including ASP style scripting using VFPScript. You could spend the money training people to use VB and then spend the time writing the web app, or you could use WWWC and get finished in half the time, have a better performing sight, and do it for a fraction of the cost.
You would think Rick Strahl was paying me to promote his product, but he isn't. His product is gift enough.
