I agree, Shorter is incredible. I have about a half dozen of his albums and he's fantastic. There's an album that Shorter and Hancock did together (Adam's Apple) is a gem.

Herbie Hancock also did some good albums - he did one called "Takin' Off" with Dexter Gordon on sax and Freddie Hubbard on trumpet that is also a must-listen.
