I had it installed that way for about a minute or two, piggybacked on Flash player. I have turned off automatic updates (as I do with most of the agents, who just sit there for months and then interrupt me in the middle of something), and kept it outdated for years, it seems. All of a sudden, Firefox refuses to play it, saying that version has a security problem... so when I got latest (seems to have gone from 11 to 16 in two years) I was momentarily short on cash and didn't pay attention. And so mcAffee got installed... the opt-out checkbox was on the download page, not in the installer itself. I hope it's not a bastard of Symantec type which is near impossible to weed out. Seems clean for now.
