>>>Curious to hear from UTers regarding Rainer's VFP / Visual Extend bundle email offer.
>>>
>>>I am not familiar w/ Visual Extend, but would love to hear what you Fox gurus think about the email, the ticking clock offer, VFP licenses, bundling, VFE, ... etc....

>>>What say you?

>>For those of us who didn't get an e-mail, can you give some specifics?

>Dear Visual FoxPro developers,
>Dear Visual Extend (trial) users,
>
>Microsoft Visual FoxPro is still the most integrated and complete development environment for Windows desktop applications in the market. And it will continue to work for at least another decade. But there is just one problem...
>
>There are no licences for Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9.0 available any more as Microsoft ended the extended support for Visual FoxPro 9.0. Neither full versions nor update versions of Visual FoxPro 9.0 (or any olderversion) are available anymore.
>
>Luckily the dFPUG (FoxPro User Group of German language, largest VFP user group worldwide since ever, incorporated, VFP DevCon organizer for 20+ years and publisher of FoxRockX magazine and Visual Extend framework) is still allowed to sell a full version of Visual FoxPro 9.0 bundled with our framework Visual Extend 15.0 based on a special disclosed contract with Microsoft signed between YAG and me five years ago.
>
>And the price for our bundle is not higher than a regular full version of Visual FoxPro 9.0 in Europe! The only problem is: Our VFP 9.0 / VFX 15.0 bundle contract expires on January 12th 2015 and therefore you will have to decide within about 10 days if you will need a personal Visual FoxPro 9.0 licence right now - or anytime in the future for any employees you might hire. Please decide now and forever.
>
>Here is our special final bundle offer for you:
>
>The full version of VFP 9.0 and the full version of VFX 15.0 is EUR 849,- incl. 19% V.A.T. (might not apply for you, we will refund) including 1 year of free maintenance builds / new versions and online-support in our forum/newsgroup for Visual Extend, see http://forum.dfpug.de.
>
>Please order the full version of Visual Extend 15.0 including source code, SilverSwitch (Silverlight conversion framework for VFX-applications), Visual FoxPro 9.0 and other components of our bundle, including 1 full year of updates and online support in our forum / newsgroups via email to bestellungen@dfpug.de (and wire transfer within time, see international payment details at our homepage dfpug.de) or directly via the PayPal button below for credit card / PayPal payments. You will receive a PDF/printed bill, a CD with Visual FoxPro, an eMail with your Visual FoxPro product activation code and an email with your Visual Extend access code (once a trial version is registered) after order and payment processing:
>
>In case you just want a Visual FoxPro licence:
>
>I know that a lot of users just want to have a valid license of Visual FoxPro 9.0 and might not want our framework Visual Extend 15.0 for whatever reason. But by our confidential contract with Microsoft we are NOT allowed to unbundle this offer! It is all or nothing. We cannot offer a Visual FoxPro update. We cannot offer an update price for existing former VFX licenses. We can just offer a full version of Visual FoxPro 9.0 bundled with a full version of Visual Extend 15.0.
>Our contract with Microsoft ends on 12th January 2015. Whoever places an order before this date will receive an official CD with Visual FoxPro 9.0 with activation code plus an access code for Visual Extend (if needed, trial version has to be installed beforehand and registered online to receive a final activation key within 1 year).
>
>In case you do NOT use Visual FoxPro 9.0 already or do not have a licence available for future team members please keep in mind that:
>
>If you are using any other version of Visual FoxPro below version 9.0 please keep in mind that Visual FoxPro 9.0 is the most stable and the most advanced version of Visual FoxPro ever! It offers advanced reporting features and advanced SQL features as well as a lot of fixes and minor enhancements as well as increased development productivity. You can easily update existing applications based on former VFP versions by using SET ENGINEBEHAVIOR and SET REPORTBEHAVIORS set to a lower level to make your applications working properly right away with the latest and best version of Visual FoxPro and without any code changes.
>
>Besides that you also have service pack 2, an updated help file and the Sedna edition as well as access to a multitude of enhancements at VFPX for this version (not working with older versions). But download soon before Microsoft disables these features as well!
>
>For more details please see our update book for VFP8, our update book for VFP9, our Flying Fox book on reporting, our Sedna update book, Jim Booths latest book about effective application development with VFP 9.0 and our latest and greatest book about the multitude of VFPX extensions for VFP 9.0. A cheap online subscription for FoxRockX magazine might help as well to stay on top!
>
>Please decide now if you want to update your development environment and provide licences for future team members or if you (and your whole team / company) really want to stick with an outdated version of Visual FoxPro for the rest of your developer career. We are sorry to say that it is now or never.....
>
>The Visual Extend framework features:
>
>In case you want to create new applications or updated versions of existing applications based on Visual FoxPro our framework Visual Extend might be of great help! It is by far the largest, the fastest and the most widespread / used rapid application development environment available on the market for Visual FoxPro developers with decades of continued product improvement and support. We always had and still have the largest team of supporters and customers in the VFP market.

According to the site http://www.visualextend.com/ the price of the VFX framework by itself is EUR 849. Since the bundle is also EUR 849, anyone interested in the framework can basically get a VFP license for free.

My question would be if it's possible to get VFP any other way. I believe VFP9 was recently downloadable as part of one or more MSDN subscriptions. I see at http://support2.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/?sort=PN&alpha=foxpro that Extended Support End Date is 2015.01.13 (i.e. 10 days from today). The fact that Rainer's offer ends on the 12th can't be coincidence.

So:

1. Can anyone with MSDN confirm if VFP is downloadable at this time?

2. Can anyone (with or without MSDN) confirm if MSDN subscribers will be able to download VFP after 2015.01.13? If the answer is no, better download now...
