I have gone this far so may as well continue. One of my very best professional memories (so far) was being airlifted into a project at Meijer's HQ in Grand Rapids. The company had assigned a couple of new employees who were not up to the job. Good guys and hard working, just not up to speed with assembly language. I did a pretty good job and then our very best developer came in to help finish the job. We worked practically around the clock for several days straight, and we fixed it. I am still tired thinking about it. One night Jim checked into his hotel at 5 a.m. and left a wake up call for 8.
Back in those days you had to be able to read assembly listings, hundreds of pages in heavy paper. That was when I knew I had found my calling.
