>>Mike, if you want to watch something good, watch Doctor Who Season 8. Peter Capaldi defied the skeptics and created a great version of the Doctor. 8 seasons and this enterprise is still going strong.

>Thank you for the tip but it's really not my genre. I understand that a lot of software developers can't get enough sci-fi. I am just not one of them.

I've never been a big sci-fan fan. I was a teen through the original Star Wars series and was indifferent to most of it.

Dr. Who is completely different. I didn't expect to like it, and got hooked. All of the actors who have played the Doctor in the series from 2005 to present (Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi) have all uniquely done a fantastic job of playing the main character, and the relationships with the travel partners (Rose, Donna, Martha, Amy, Carla, etc) have a surprising amount of depth.

Even when it gets campy (and it does get campy sometimes), it does so in a way that you'll gladly forgive. The character of the Doctor goes back and forth between preachy, judgmental, generous, funny/witty, childlike, harsh and nearly cruel - but there's always a reason for it.

8 seasons and still going strong - not many series can say that.

I can't swear that you'll like it, but you might want to give it a try.

This episode is one of the best from Season 1. Here's a short scene...
