Not so on google.rs; tried on google.co.uk and got one that looked like it but was actually a search for "how to remove home page" on ask.com (and not related to skype at all); same with google.com. And I RDP'd into a server in the UK to do my search, so to filter out any local bias based on my IP number. Nada.

Actually I did find something - a recommendation to remove one string from c:\Users\{winUser}\AppData\Roaming\Skype\{skypeUser}\config.xml which seems benign and kind of unrelated, but I gave it a try, just like I gave a few other such recommendations a try over the last few weeks. Opened skype again and it immediately greeted me with the "you are on the obsolete version, learn why we are killing it, you'll have to upgrade real soon now"... and I've installed this latest version three times now already.

Well if I find that anything important is refusing to work, I'll install it the fourth time. So far the chat and video chat seem to work fine; file transfer seems to have be a forgotten art, it now points me to "To view this shared photo, go to: https://api.asm.skype.com/s/i?0-eus-d2-4386blablablabla ", but I'm not sure whether this happened while I was on 7.0 or on 7.0 claiming to be 6.3. But that's for files coming from only one person - from others it seems to be coming the old way.

At least, now I know what's different from 6.3 and 7.0: the .css in use and the mandatory homepage. The rest seems to be the same.

BTW, the underlying protocol in skype is still IRC - just like it was in ICQ back in the day. Just type something beginning with /me and it still works :).
