My daughter watches the Disney Channel and plays some games (some are educational, some not) on a Kindle that we got 2 years ago. Originally we tried to get an Android tablet for kids, but it didn't work very well. And then we were told that kids actually did well with Kindles.
I was a bit skeptical about all of it at first - I know the danger of devices being little more than electronic flash cards - but she's reading and writing quite well.
I know I get repetitive when I say this, but I still love being a dad (even when I'm yelling at her for the 100th time to pick up her toys and straighten her room!) :)
