Note on how many elections the turnout is barely 50%, and that's the published figure. The ruling parties have about 24% of real support; the other 76% mostly don't care, don't think the system is worth the trouble, or perhaps still believe in the system but are still deluded enough to think that the other parties would have done better.
The only thing that's keeping the political systems in check is the pitchforks on the horizon and the fear thereof.
