Hi Rick. Thanks for the input.

How big is database and individual files?
*.dbf = 730 meg
*.cdx = 130 meg
*.fpt = 43 meg

The largest dbf is 234 Meg and has no memo file.

Yes I have both databases (live and test) on the same server and the same HDD, just different folders and so from the workstation different drive mappings.

I had tested it before but just to be sure, I dropped the drive mappings and remapped them swapping them. I then conducted the same test. Swapping the drive letters had absolutely no effect meaning Live is still slow versus Test. No difference at all.

As for the same load meaning just me?
This is a 24 hour "shop" meaning they are using the system 24/7.
It is difficult to get everyone out but from the server I can use server manager to see who is logged in. I know their business and I know what each user is doing. I am taking all that into account. Having said that and to ensure my testing is valid:

Stop the presses. I am trying to do some more test. It appears that if any large table is open, in the dbc, from which I am pulling data (from the workstation), it is effecting the query time. I have a user currently connected and it IS effecting my test. Hard to tell what is occurring. I am going to wait till that user is finished for the day (an hour or 2) and will do some more tests and post the results.

I should setup a network environment here at my office and do all this testing there to see if I get the same results as I have been getting at the facility where I am having this issue. I am also going to try to do that but I am not sure I will be able to do so. Will have more info in a few hours.

Thanks,
John
