Back then, your choices were either typed or untyped. (Though Generics certainly helped the arguments of those who favored custom entities).
Since you used to talk/write heavily about Crystal (and so did I), Crystal reporting applications worked nicely with typed datasets.
I have no argument on typed datasets being necessarily better than EF (nor the reverse). They're simply different. Everyone needs to determine which will be better for them.
