>I think this came up in another thread recently. The database engine is still used 'under the hood' for a lot a MS stuff - so, yes, you need it :-{
It is the terminology used that is confusing. It says "2010 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components". When I read this, it means to me like this is a driver not Access. I would then assume they got more downloads and installations by having renamed it like that. Because, even for me, if I would have read "Access database engine" before downloading, I wouldn't be up to that point.
I would have a lot of problems trying to get that approved to be installed on production servers. We already have SQL Server 2012. So, they would certainly ask why would you need to downgrade or install something like that when you already have SQL Server installed?
I am waiting for a response from Flexcel. I believe they might have support for importing as well. I already have that library. So, I might as well use it in the other way around as well.
