HTML/JS/CSS is sort of the foundation of the web, unless I am missing something. However around 17 years ago I made 2 predictions in my company's newsletter:

1. The dot com stocks were junk and it was all a bubble that would burst.

2. The web was a fad that would not catch on.

50% right! To be fair, the super fast modems of the time were if I recall not even 14.4 bps yet. A graphic web page would take minutes to load a page.

What I really failed to predict was the spread of broadband.

So there is hope for your friend! (lol)
