>I have a VFP 9 app that uses remote views to connect to an Oracle backend. When I run my app against the 8i database - it works just fine. If I try to use the 11G backend - a query that takes no time under 8i takes like 6 to 10 seconds under 11G. What is odd is that if I use a tool like TOAD to run the querry it works really fast - but if I do it via ODBC it takes forever. I've tried the Oracle version 10 ODBC drivers and the version 11 ODBC drivers and get same problem with both. I've talked to our Oracle DBA and he can run the select statements on the backend and they work as they should. I'm really kinda lost here - anyone have any suggestions? I can't really release my app update if it takes 2 minutes for a screen to pop up..ahhh!

Your should ask your Oracle DBA why queries from VFP run so slow. It's his job to troubleshot situation like that and the first step would be to see what statement(s) is send from VFP to Oracle and what are connection settings. I would bet that either statement(s) is not the same what he runs on back end or connection setting are different.
