>>>The way they decide what to educate the kids in Texas is a joke. First thing they need to figure out is that the bible is NOT a science book. (due to the rules here we shall not discuss that)... the books also promote climate change denial and downplay segregation. The Texas school board is a total mess and should be flushed down the toilet. I lived in Texas for a few years a while back - I don't think 2 weeks went by without my girlfriend at the time having to call up her kids school and complain about how stupid and incorrect some of the things they were teaching were. She finally gave up and sent the kid to a private school.

>>You don't have to tell me how crappy Texas educational system is, especially after Gov. GoodHair got through gutting the budgets, but the really sad thing IS the fact Texas controls what textbooks (and what goes in 'em) for the (mostly) entire country.

>Yep that is part of the problem - these clowns control what ends up in schools all across the USA. The final straw for my gf was a result of a conference she had with one of the "teachers". She was showing the teacher some of the stuff that was simply wrong, and the teacher finally said that it did not matter if it was right or wrong, that this is what the designed curriculum said, so therefor it was right and what was going to be taught. She left the parent/teacher conference and marched right down to the office and pulled her daughter out of the school permanently and had her in a private school 2 days later.

Well, good on your girlfriend - and I'm sorry she ran into that and I'm glad she could afford the private school for her daughter.
