>I have recently recompiled and redistributed some applications from VFP 5.0 to VFP 6.0. When the users exit the program, they receive an error that says "fatal error: exception code C0000005" in the 6.0 version. No code, etc. has changed from my 5.0 to 6.0 versions, just the recompile. No errors were returned under the 5.0 version upon shutdown. The strange thing is that on my machine, the recompiled version does not return this error upon application shutdown. Any ideas about this behavior? Please note that I have fully removed VFP 5.0 on my machine, including the VFP runtime, while the users have runtimes for 5.0 and 6.0. (I have yet to recompile some other applications for the users.)

There are several things that might be causing this. The most likely is that the machine(s) which are reporting the exception need to have the current version of DCOM installed (it can be downloaded from Microsoft's Web site.) If the machines having the problem are all running Win95 and do not currently have IE 4.0 or later installed, installing the latest DCOM (or IE 4) will take care of the problem.
