His actions at Chappaquiddick were bad enough. His "apology" and excuses afterwards were, if anything, worse. (Not to mention the family attempts to cover them up...once again, it's this wealthy example of, "Justice for thee but not for me".
I'm not sure how many key figures in modern U.S. history have that kind of black mark on them.
