I think I would use a CA to do the SELECT SQL (or a view, but to me CA is better)

If the SQL is to eratic to create (tricky changes a parameterized where could not cover) I would have two CA's the one creating the data and the other the create the output based on the first one.

No need to fiddle around with DBF and the like. Just a clear call to the CA.
