>>>Can't believe I'm asking basic questions about putting a bookshelf together.
>>>
>>>I bought a bookshelf and was trying to put it together last night. Unfortunately, one of the pieces (a hidden cam - one of those little circular screws you push into a board and then slide a cam dowel on the side of it) is missing.
>>>
>>>For anyone who knows more about basic hardware than I do (i.e. 99% of the population), are hidden cam screws pretty standard/universal, where I could just go into a local Walmart....or are they very specific and I need to order one from the company that makes the bookshelf?
>>>
>>>I guess this is my punishment for buying a cheap bookshelf at K-Mart. I should have known better
>>
>>For all I know they are specific. We are IKEA adictied, they have several sizes. I've done some furniture that style myself - every hardware store seems to have it's own. Enough parameters to play with.
>>
>>Update try IKEA it's normal that pieces are missing (I think they like to force you back in the store) but they hand out spare parts.
>>
>>If you have a hidden corner, a bracket and some screws ...
>
>I've put together a lot of IKEA kitchens wardrobes etc and never had a missing piece.
>
>Apart from driving home through torrential rain with a parts so of a kitchen on the roof rack Boxes got wet and I was spraying screws and bits all over the M4. Rang IKEA and next day got a huge bag of parts sent to me.

Possibly they act different in different countries. With me and friends it's above 20%. There are shelves to pic the stuff.
