Not sure, really. For almost as long as I use Visual FoxPro - 10-15 years? - I have left such messy details to frameworks, such as Visual Extend or Visual ProMatrix. If you create your own framework... Well, I think you must run the procedure that changes the look (and availability) of navigation buttons in several places, including save, cancel, next, previous, etc.; as well as form open. "Activate" would probably also be relevant, for when the user clicks on another form.
