Never trust statistics you haven't doctored personally.
The key event which convinced me that there's no difference is that for most of the books I have read in the last ten years I can't remember on which medium they were. The only actual difference is the cover - in the later case, the machine is the cover and you get to see the illustration only when you start reading. With the physical book you see it every time. The benefit of this is that you don't get to read the advertising and the stupid blurbs on the cover every time.
