>>>I just picked up a new Dell Laptop at Staples yesterday, and on the box it said something like "A Minimun 12 month warranty", but when I registered it gave me a 18 month warranty. Anyone else notice this, I have never seen anything labled this way before. It was a touchscreen model.

>Hmmmm..... I didn't buy the staples warranty, you think that has an impact on offial Dell Warranty?
You were likely wise to avoid a store warranty. And no, that doesn't impact the official Dell Warranty.
Squaretrade protects against things that mfr. warranties don't -- like dropping the laptop or sitting on it or having it stolen. The way it works is they repair up to the value of the laptop, over the course of the term you selected. So you get Dell to fix it when it's covered with them, Squaretrade when it's not. The costs they charge for, e.g., replacing an iPad screen are very reasonable (better than online prices I could find).
