Initially I was a bit disappointed in some of it's C type syntax but at other times I look at a chunk of code and apart from the curly braces it could almost be Foxpro.

Go is very good at the kind of work that one would do in hand-rolling web applications at the services level. It has a very fast adoption rate in the last year.
The key, as always, is getting a development language that meets your needs. I gather that in the iOT (Internet Of Things) Go has some very good for interacting with devices.
