>>The Tea Party and the Occupy Movement got this at first, but both were co-opted by the mainstream parties who have been feeding the populace the anti-union/pro-corporation Kool Aid since Nixon showed them how and Reagan turned it into an art form.

Sentence of the week! ;-)

Do you watch House of Cards? S3E01 has Underwood wanting to curtail entitlements, showing that in 2014 entitlements consumed 44% of tax dollars expected to rise to >60% and proposing that the >$30K for each Medicare beneficiary represents a job for an unemployed single mum. Underwood says that he wants to grasp that nettle. Great drama, right?

Meanwhile Netflix threatened to pull House of Cards production out of Maryland unless tax incentives for S3 continued and Maryland threatened to use eminent domain if Netflix did that. In the end Netflix only got $11.5M filming credit leaving a $3.5M shortfall. They took the credit and S3 is airing.

FWIW, two members of Russian girl band "Pussy Riot" apparently are in the cast for this season. Worth googling- don't think much of the misic but those girls know gow to get into the news. E.g. they got publicly whipped by Cossack security guards at the Winter Olympics and were jailed for a while for combined disruption of a church service/criticising Putin.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
