Depends.

I work as a contrator, so the software I develop is not my property.

The good on this is, that the day I became independent I was not forced to buy it from the heirs of my predecessor ... It was just a Hey I can do the job ... :))
Bad side is that those service thing will not work since I owe the product. :(
