Right, it's another option. I was researching this for my colleague and this is what he just wrote me:

I did - for days. I'm giving up and just having us publish 5.0 licenses instead of trying to be backward compatible.

In other words, he tried to fix that code I gave him and gave up and he is smarter than me.
