Hey, Bill,

The premise of this article is flawed. Rachel Maddow (and those who work closely with her) has a horrible reputation for tactics like editing video and changing specific words when quoting others.

In this case, the article you mentioned refers to a quote from Joni Ernst that Rachel Maddow misrepresented. Joni Ernst did not say (as Maddow claimed)...

"I believe in the right to defend myself and my family....whether it’s from an intruder, or whether it’s from the government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important.”

What Ernst ACTUALLY said was:

"I believe in the right to defend myself and my family....whether it’s from an intruder, or whether it’s from A government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important.” (emphasis mine)

The replacement of "a government" with "the government" is incredibly dishonest. And it's no accident - it's a pattern at MSNBC of misrepresenting in order to paint a picture.
