The problem with that notion is that someone has to decide what ideas are proper.
You mentioned property rights.
The Civil War was fought primarily because some people called other people their property and other people disagreed with that definition. The law was clearly on the side of slave owners, but others still disagreed with those ideas.
There are probably some Cherokees who would argue with us about property rights as well.
In both cases those property disputes were resolved in favor of the people with the most military power, not necessarily with the best ideas.
Ghandi used other power, but he wielded power.
So... more precisely...
