The owner was answering a theoretical question. There's no indication they've ever refused service to anyone. And for that they paid a terrible price, one where too many people are looking in the other direction and saying nothing.
And to your point, if they charged a higher price they'd be accused of something else.
I am 100% against discrimination in hiring and firing practices, but much of this recent news is all about activism gone out of control.
