You weren't around then, but I was, and lots of people couldn't handle the fact that JFK was an Irish Catholic.
Things change. Paul Ryan, an Irish Catholic, was a serious candidate for the repubs and, while a few hangers-on couldn't handle that, it wasn't a serious issue.
I wore a JFK button and my mother cried tears of joy when he was elected, but I voted against Paul Ryan.
Being an Irish Catholic wasn't enough for JFK and it wasn't enough for Ryan.
Demonizing people for holding ideas they sincerely believe but don't coincide with ours never works, Victor.
Get out there. Ring doorbells. Hand out leaflets. It takes time, but eventually people will get it right.
It's these corrupt politicians who are the enemy, not the people who put their hopes in them.
