Hi,

Quite often and random I get a message that "Errors have been detected in .. " either Outlook.pst file or one of the external .pst files I use in my Outlook 365. There is a repair tool, scanpst.exe, in the Office 365 folder. I am concerned that this scanpst.exe may do more damage than help. Hence I am asking if anybody has used this tool and what were the results?

TIA.

UPDATE. I copied one .PST file to a TEMP folder and ran SCANPST.EXE against this file. The initial size of this PST was 1,571,980,288 and after the Repair the file size is 1,583,154,176. For some reason I thought that the file size will be reduced. But is is ok. The repair LOG file is quite large 2,228,995 (text file). The content does not tell me anything.
When I was using Outlook 2010, for many years, not even one time I had a corrupted .PST.

UPDATE 2. I repaired my PST files yesterday using SCANPST.EXE. And today I am already getting the message of Error in one of the PST files. As I expected, this MS tool is a piece of crap (as probably most of what they create these days).
