I have been attempting to set up a form that allows the user to input the name of a excel file into a text box, and use this specified excel file to append a table in my database. The excel file name is assigned to a memory variable. This memory variable is then used with the append table command.

After the first run of this program, I found out that the append table command does not like to have a memory variable substituted for an actual file name. I started to figure out an alternative way to append my foxpro table. But I do not know enough about how VFP deals with opening/appending files from a form. At this point I'm not sure if VFP is designed to do this.

If anyone has any sugestions to how this problem can be solved or knows the path I should take to solve it, I would truely appreciate the info/help
