One of the benefits of working for Ingram is rapid access to just about any book I want. I ran across a really good book on ADO called aptly enough "ADO 2.0 Programmer's Reference" (ISBN 1-861001-83-5 For those interested souls) I discovered in reading the relevant sections that the providor can (and will) change the cursortype and locktype properties of your recordset if it can't do what you are asking it to. In my case I was asking SQL Server 6.5 to create local recordsets that were dynamic and batch updateable. In a client side record set those properties are not supported. When I changed them to server side recordsets, everything works just fine. I'm getting record sets back in record time, and binding them to text boxes on the form was a breeze. Now if I can just bind the child records to the grid I'll be fine.

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.
