FoxInCloud is based on the very same view: the Web is just another (more powerful) GUI, there is no reason why all the rest should be dumped.

FoxInCloud provides the same application support on desktop and Web, and the possibility for additional HTML/CSS/JS features for those who want that.

Others tend to say: all what you've done so far dates back from another era, nothing will ever be the same any more, etc.
To me, sounds like end-of-the-world preaches - always suspect.

>My first computer in the early 1980s had a silicon chip, a keyboard and a screen. 35 years later my computer has a silicon chip, a keyboard and a screen- and a mouse. IOW there's been no real change there at all. Web is just another way of showing stuff on a screen with keyboard and mouse interaction. Mobile devices are cool, but in the end they also have silicon chips, keyboards, screens and mouse analogs.

>Meanwhile Google, Mercedez Benz and others are developing truly new modalities such as self-driving cars. Sorry but business/user computers and mainstream software development is bogged down doing the same thing lots of exciting different ways and believing that all this churn is a valuable purpose in itself. No matter how important or special we may believe our work is- if it ends up allowing users to do the same thing in a different way, all we're doing is rearranging the chairs in the stadium while believing we're the star players.
