>Our client(s) is send us CSV files with demographics of people they serve. The problem is that a few of the rows in the CSV have names and/or addresses with embedded comma in them. This is throwing the APPEND a problem. The wrong data is ending up in the wrong columns.

Greg, I had such a problem recently
Not only did the file have these pesky commas, they had speech marks and other foreign characters.
In my case I overcame the issue without any problems after saving the file as a spreadsheet and
append from Lcfile.xls type xls
The "save as" can be fone programmatically, if required
