I don't remember OS2 being expected to destroy MS. I remember MS and IBM cooperating over the upcoming OS2 and then Windows got released and swept the field.
But in any case, your sophist device seems intended to stifle discussion, since by this logic everything is conjecture. What's not conjecture is that Google and now Apple are coming out with new UI features and inter-connectivity stuff to give native apps free access to features that used to need a browser. Example: "deep linking."
