For example, I can capture an application window but then I want to add arrows with the a short text in round or oval shapes. For example, the text in a shape would say "1 - enter ID", "2 - Click this button", and so on. Snipping tool has a pen or a highlighter but I can't make straight lines or round shapes with it.

Yes, there are numerous reason why a program is free. But since Dmitry specifically mentioned "the company that developed", I only listed the reasoning a company would use to justify giving away a product. I should have stated that when I made my lists. There are some important options which I left out, like
- school projects
- research projects
- strongly motivated people
- and the list goes on. Sorry if I left out any important options

I not only use Thor a lot myself, I also contributed a heavily during its development. For instance SuperBrowse is one of my babies. I also came up with the name Thor, since its a Nordic variant of my own name. The fact that the film Thor was released more or less at the same time as the tool Thor, is just a coincident.
