used SecureBlackbox from Eidos or Eldos quite a couple of years back. ActiveX component, they have methodsignature matching Dotnet components if porting is on the horizon, payware but not expensive and worth it for saved time. Chillkat probably has similar and has larger market share, current prices not checked here.
But my first stop would be Westwind.com, to check if Rick has it in his arsenal - as he still supports vfp, chances are his other stuff can be useful if it is not among his free free offerings , so side benefits might be better for your case if it costs a bit.0 IMO his prices for client tools (where I suspect they are) is well worth it, as he gives you sources well worth reading - nice balance of functionality gained and clean code.
Back then Rick only had FTP, so I went to SecureBlackbox.
