>Only after you have done your part, which includes searching.

Who dictates the rules by which a question may be asked? Where does it state that searching must be done before asking? I find asking in a forum (which my browser is always logged into 24/7) often quicker than Googling (not Bing!) for results. Plus, by asking in a forum I often get much more than the simple answer but possibly lots of additional related information.

>A simple search on an number of VFP forums will get the answer.

So the OP is unprofessional and wasted your time. I think we should ban him.

>As for the quick answer, it didn't happen. The OP came back the next day and got the answer.

Irrelevant as you only know this after the fact, after you had already given OP some attitude.

> I can't fathom a situation where you need an immediate response to the question asked.

That only speaks to your experience and limitations, not the OP or anyone else asking a question which you deem unworthy. Bottom line is that if you don't feel a question is worth answering then move on.

>>Posting a question in a relevant forum is making the effort to find something out. So what if others have asked similar questions about previous O/S? The new O/S is new, its different - maybe it wont work so one tries to find out. Are you the question police now, some sort of standard bearer of what questions can be asked and which are deemed unworthy?

>>You don't think about the OP's unique situation. Perhaps they are busy, need a quick answer. Perhaps they handle multiple different roles in their business and don't have the time to read as much as someone else. Perhaps they just want to come to a friendly forum and ask those they feel are "experts" for some feedback beyond a simple yes or no answer. Perhaps you should just not say anything if you feel the question is beneath answering and leave the OP to it.
