Some points the author didn't consider or didn't discuss completely:

- CodePlex is pretty much dead. Many projects have been moved to GitHub and new ones are there. For example, Microsoft's .Net code is stored in GitHub.
- JavaScript is the big thing now. It's caused changes across all platforms and languages. All languages have ebbs and flows. There's a reason you don't see SNOBOL or PL1 today.
- So, WinForms were replaced by something else. You can still create WinForm apps today. You can create WPF apps today. You can create Universal apps tomorrow (when VS 2015 ships). Having a single code-base that runs on multiple platforms is intriguing.
- So Silverlight is dead. Big deal. Flash is also disappearing. This is mainly due to HTML 5 video. I never saw Silverlight as a long-term technology.
- The loss of WCF is no surprise. It was pretty much used for SOAP that most companies have abandoned in favor of REST.
- He also fails to discuss technologies from other companies. Angular 2.0 is incompatible with previous versions. Microsoft doesn't hold a monopoly on throwing things out there then changing course. Look up GoogeBandWagon on the Fox Wikis for more. (Fox Wikis was down when I posted this)
- Xamarin is making money on cross-platform C#, so something is working there.
- Allowing multiple technologies in Azure is a brilliant move. There's nothing wrong with supporting non-Microsoft tech there.
- Anyone in this industry that isn't looking at different technologies is doing themselves and their customers a disservice.
