Obviously I'm partial to SQL Server, but the truth is that MS SQL Server has been inching its way from a departmental solution to a corporate/enterprise solution. They've done some good things with columnstore indexes and in-memory optimized tables that give major ETL/DW apps a boost. Things aren't perfect, but when you look at the database engine in 2008, and then 2012, and then now....there's some real pop to their offerings.
