>>I wonder what you're all doing on your computers. None of mine (10 or so) have more than 4GB. I just do not feel I need it for the job. Hell, my two Samsung ultrabooks only have 120 GB of storage. I'm running two SQL servers on there and several databases of a few GB, a full dev environement and that is it. I got some space to spare. Archive and other storage is on our hosted server. For some heavy conversions and running VMs for support we are using the hosted server with 32 GB, and yes, running 5 SQL servers and a dozen of VM machines for a dozen of users isn't luxury.

Yes in that case, it won't hurt. However, I managed to keep away the vms from any desktop or laptop and run them exclusively on servers. Having SSD in a machine does much more to overall performance than an extra 4GB of internal mem, IMO.

The laptops are almost exclusively used for downstairs internetting and demos for clients. Not much dev going on there (though fully equipped for it in case for the need of a quick fix)
