Did you write the program that sends the emails or is it third party?

What I'd like to do is call the email program from my prg, I'm in a loop of all relevant customers, and if non reply n 10 seconds move to the next. the reason is that this is unattended and the customer won't mind a report at the nd saying x number did not send. They do mind that they didn't send and stopped all further emails from sending.
