There is an updated VFP6 Setup Wizard on the VFP web site which you should pick up since it does have improved detection for DCOM98 as well as some other fixes and improvements. It doesn't install DCOM for you, but the Wizard's handling is much better and should not cause any nasty errors.

You should also follow up on Ed Rauh's excellent suggestions for automating detection and installation of DCOM98.

I don't recommend trying to break-up DCOM98 into just files and installing them separately via our Setup Wizard or any other setup engine.
