What's the real difference? I can get remote automation to work however I cannot get DCOM to work.
1. I am building the OLE server.
2. Regestering it on Host
3. Enabling "Allow Remote Access" in the "RemAuto Connection Manager" on the Host
4. Running "DCOMCNFG" and setting access for the server to "Everyone" on the Host
5. I start the "Automation Manager" on the Host
6. On the client I run "CliReg32"
* If I set it to "Remote Automation","TCP/IP", and the IP address of my host it works
* If I set it to "Remote Automation","HTTP", and the IP address of my host it does not work
* If I set it for "Distributed COM" and the IP address of my host it does not work.

Can anyone point me to some good documentation on this. I searched MS and did not really come up with much. My understanding is that DCOM is faster, more secure, and does not need the "Automation Manager" running on the host. Thanks in advance for your help.
