Hello,

I stored an Office 365 OneNote file in MS OneDrive and invited my partner to share the document. In order to send the invitation I had to open the file with the web version of OneNote because the desktop version of OneNote threw an error: "The server couldn't complete this action. Error Code: 0x803d0000". Googling for Error Code: 0x803d0000 did not bring up any useful information.

After receiving the invitation, my partner was able to open the document and we made changes and synched the file. Cool.

Then I shared the document with someone outside our organization. I don't know yet whether they could open the document, but it got me wondering about OneDrive security.

Does anything prevent a stranger from opening the file if they somehow found out its URL? Worse, can a stranger get the URL using Google and then open the document?

I read about OneDrive and OneDrive for Business, Business being based on SharePoint and more secure, but I can't determine if I am using OneDrive or OneDrive Business. We purchased an Office 365 subscription with the right to install the desktop version on several computers and tablets and we are also hosting our email domain with MS. Does that mean I am paying for OneDrive for Business?

I would appreciate any insight on this issue.

TIA,

Alex
