Uhm, Walter, I assure you, I know the difference between fascism and socialism in an economic context. You and Hugo are definitely throwing out the empty cheap shots. :)

In a socialist environment, basically the government owns the means of production. When things go well or things go poorly, the govt usually gets the credit/blame.

Under the Obama administration (and this was also true of the Bush years), they leave ownership in the hands of the private industry, but mandates so many controls that it creates a (as economist Thomas Sowell has written) a "heads I win, tails you lose" environment. ACA is a good example - if one aspect of it goes well (or at least doesn't go south), the govt can claim ACA is working. When it doesn't go well, it's "those greedy insurance companies"

Yes, even in a largely free economy there can be a certain level of control and regulations - but what has occurred over the last 2 administrations has more than tipped the scales.

Over the years, people have mistaken fascism, socialism, and capitalism, usually because of clouded beliefs. For instance, the communists have viewed for years that Hitler was a capitalist, because he did not outwardly nationalize Krupp steel (and also, because Hitler fought against communists, he clearly must have been a far right-wing capitalist). While it is true that Hitler did not nationalize large businesses, his government placed so many restrictions and regulations on Krupp that are not consistent with a free market.
