I was being facetious.
That said, a lot of French people would say the language spoken in Quebec/Maritimes isn't French. A friend was living in Aix-en-Provence a while back. She was watching TV, and Rene Levesque (then-Quebec premier) was being interviewed, nominally in French. The show ran French subtitles while he was speaking ;)
